This workshop will provide teachers with background information on a number of pressing issues facing the international community. The relevant contemporary history of each issue as well as suggestions for teaching methods and tools will be discussed. The topics may change in order to be responsive to current events but will likely include human trafficking, climate change, nuclear proliferation and the situation in Darfur. This
workshop will meet the guidelines of PA Department of Education’s Academic Standards for Civics and
Government, under How International Relationships Function, 5.4.9/12. This workshop is being offered for Act 48 continuing education credits and is co-sponsored by Duquesne University.
