High School Visits

Global Solutions’ staff are available to go to high schools to discuss current international issues.  We also provide visits to area Model United Nations classes/clubs to teach about United Nations history, bodies and procedures, as well as workshops on Model UN participation. GSP staff will come to your high school to teach a workshop on the upcoming G-20 conference. The program will cover a brief history of the G-20 and the international finance system as well as information about the topics of discussion at the September Summit.

Professional Development Workshops

Global Solutions Pittsburgh offers training workshops for high school teachers that focus on current global issues. The workshops feature expert speakers presenting on a variety of topics and ideas.  They are designed to assist you in integrating the themes into your classroom and are approved for Act 48 continuing education credit hours. Each workshop provides background on the issues, reviews teaching methods and resources, and presents activities and learning tools that can be used in your classroom.  The workshops are an opportunity to network, to share your global issues teaching experiences, and to discuss ways in which teachers can work together to engage their students. See resources from our previous workshop as well as dates for upcoming sessions

Pittsburgh Human Rights Network

The Pittsburgh Human Rights Network is a project intended to create a permanent, accessible online interface for different groups and organizations in the Pittsburgh area who are working to promote international human rights. This network was developed by Global Solutions Pittsburgh in May of 2009 and is designed to enable groups and organizations in the Pittsburgh area, whether at the college or professional level, to easily communicate and coordinate with one another, so as to more effectively promote human rights. Members of the Pittsburgh Human Rights Network can view one another's contact information, events, and overall mission of individual groups. Members can also publish discussions, chat with one another, and share photos and video as well. The Pittsburgh Human Rights Network actively believes that the world can be changed for the better if people are informed, connected, and involved. Visit the PittsburghHumanRightsNetwork to become a member. If there are any questions or concerns regarding the Pittsburgh Human Rights Network, contact Tim, Communications Associate.
